What: A big fire started on Monday afternoon in Early Valley Road in Lansdowne. It was started by an electrical fault. The Fire Service were alerted to the fire at 5:45pm. A second fire broke out several kilometres further east on Marleys Hill, this fire was reported 90 minutes after the previous one. The fire took 11 homes and one life with it. A helicopter crashed trying to fight the fires and the pilot died. The fire was officially declared extinguished, after 66 days.

What was the mistake? An electrical fault that started the fire.
What were the consequences of the mistake? The consequences of the electrical fault is that it burnt down many houses and an area of 2,075 hectares of land. There was one fatality.
