The ride to camp had just begun,
We were on the run.
People were laughing,
People were snoring,
Others thought it was boring.
Leaving the neighbourhood into the unknown,
What could happen, We didn't know
Roaring down the motorway,
Home slowly faded away
People missed pictures,
People were in the way,
People were complaining,
Only two hours away.
Arriving at the Marae to a cutral Welcome.
Cultural carving carved high and low on the totem pole.
Historic stories were told about the area,
They were superior.
Learning the haka by the shore,
Wanting to explore.
Embers fly through the air,
Marshmallows fall and disappear.
The fire was burning in the night,
Scary stories gave a fright
Spotlight was fun,
Until it was won
People hiding,
Torches shining,
The light was just in sight
A new challenge had appeared,
One that i had feared.
Waves crashing against my board,
Whilst trying to get aboard.
Trying to surf was proven hard,
But sad that you can't do it in the yard.
The confidence course was in sight,
It looked like a building site.
Planks of wood connecting trees,
In the autumn breeze.
Over the hill I could see,
The flying fox with glee.
Ready for a treat,
Everyone was in there seat.
There were lots of acts,
All wanting to attract
The last day came,
So we got to play games.
The leaky pipe was hype.
Try to organised the sheep was neat.
Team building was fun,
Until it was done
Roaring down the motorway,
Camp faded away.
People playing games,
While more came.
Home appeared,
People Cheered!
