Holes chapter prompts

Chapter 1

I learnt that it was just dry flatland for miles with a broken down village and six tents. The only vegetation was two trees with a hammock tied between them and a log cabin behind that. All over the ground there are holes. I would imagine that a place called camp green lake would have a nice lake with a few ducks and a nice little village with cabins in good condition. Also a lot of vegetation.

Chapter 2

I think that digging holes could potentially make a bad person good because of the location, conditions and work. The wouldn’t like the location because of the conditions which are dry and hot also the work is is very hard for them so they wouldn’t want to go back in a hurry. The work also passes the time because instead of rotting away in a cell they are doing something productive.

Chapter 3

I think that he notes down what went wrong and knows what to do next time so he has a better chance of having success. Also when something goes wrong instead of surrendering to failure fights against and learns how to defeat it. Also it is similar to this year’s fertile question. What I learnt from failure was to put the oven on bake instead of fan bake. The reason why I have to do this is because when I made chocolate chip cookies once I put them on the wrong setting so the burnt and were deemed a failure.

Chapter 4

Mr Sir had a rattlesnake tattoo which I think means he isn’t to worried about them and so the boys there think he’s the real tough guy. I would think Mr Sir is a really strict, tough, scary and masculine dude and that tattoo is meant to make make him even scarier and tougher also add to his masculinity.

Chapter 5

The boys probably call Mr Pendanski “Mom” because of the way he talks to them and how he takes care of the boys. I think the nickname suits him because he can be firm but kind also he helps the boys through their troubles like a mother would do for their child. He also encourages the boys and says positive things to them.

Chapter 6

The boys don’t believe him because Clyde “sweetfeet” livingston is a very famous athlete and his shoes were worth a lot of money and would be hard to find let alone get. They probably also didn’t believe him because where he got them seemed pretty unlikely.

Chapter 7

He learnt that the next 18 months weren’t going to be like your classic summer camp also that he needs to dig fast before the hottest part of the day. Stanley probably felt proud because he worked so hard then he finally finished and it was up to standard. I would be proud if I had been slaving away for hours in the hot sun then finally finished.

Chapter 8

I do not necessarily believe in curses or voodoo and all those things. Instead I believe in facts and facts can prove that sidekicks and prophets are all frauds. I do not believe in curses because there have been no official reports of real curses. Maybe some people said they were cursed but they usually were lying for popularity or they were conned into thinking they are cursed. Also I just don’t really believe in magic.

Chapter 8

Chapter 9

I think that the nickname is cool but kind of offensive the thing that makes it cool is it’s probably the best name there because I wouldn’t want to be called armpit or squid. But it is still kind of offensive because a caveman is usually depicted as a fat, dumb and hunched over man. I do have nickname which is Will because that is the shortened version of my name.

Chapter 10

I think that the way they line up is in order of importance because Stanley was always last in line behind zero and x-ray was always in the front so at this point in time they didn’t think Stanley was important. When Stanley moves up in the line it clearly means they think of him as one of them so the significance of the line is depending on where you are says how much you matter.

Chapter 11

X-ray asks Stanley to give him anything he found so he could get the day off also because X-ray had been there nearly a year and hadn’t found anything. Stanley agrees to it because he probably didn’t want to get on the bad side of X-ray because he could tell easily that he was the leader of the group, also agreeing means he gains their trust. I would of said yes because I’d rather gain trust and protection from the tough guys then get one measly day off.
