“Run James as fast as you can!” my friend Riley shouted. My little heart was rapidly beating so fast I couldn’t keep count between each breath I took. I tripped over this large tree branch. I knew I should’ve been careful. Now my old shoes are torn and scratched. I was devastated. It’s my birthday next week. I can probably save up for some new ones with my birthday money. I wouldn’t get enough money anyway since they’re so expensive without a sale. I’ll now have to stay in these shoes for the rest of the year. Shoes right now are too expensive so i’ll wait for the end of the year boxing day. “Mum!” I cried. She looked down at my old scrappy shoes. She wasn’t mad she was acting happy but upset. We had no money at all. We couldn't afford it if it wasn't discounted. I notice something behind my Mum’s back, it was a box wrapped with toy story wrapping paper. She said it was an early birthday present. I slowly opened it. It was a pair of brand new shoes. My frown went upside down into a huge grin. I couldn’t spit out all my words on how much I loved them. I grabbed them and squeezed them with all my might. I was the happiest boy in the whole world. I jumped into my Mum’s arms. From that day on i’ll never run in my brand new shiny sandals again.
