Why did the Hindenburg Explode?
The Hindenburg was a German Airship, sometimes known as a Zeppelin. It was on a flight to USA. It exploded on May 6th 1937 while landing at Lakehurst, New Jersey, USA.
The mistake was that the Hindenburg exploded. It was a lack of knowledge mistake because they didn’t know that the gas was leaking and they didn’t know a spark from a static discharge could ignite leaking gas. From this disaster 35 people died - 22 crewmembers and 13 passengers. The creators of Hindenburg learnt to make sure that it doesn’t leak anymore or spark. I think it has changed the world a bit because people who heard what happened probably don’t trust or are just scared to go on a zeppelin.
My memoir
I got on the Hindenburg. I felt really excited to go back home from our trip to Germany. “The Hindenburg, the 100% safest way of traveling” I said in my head. I knew I was going to get home safely, “nothing to be scared about” I thought. I see it, “we are home now mum” I shouted to my mother. As we were landing I heard a big BOOM! Something had gone wrong, Everything around me was on fire. The zeppelin was crashing down to the ground. When the zeppelin was close to the ground my mother threw me out the window and shouted run away from the fire. As I ran, I looked behind me and saw my dad try to catch my mum and bring her to safety we all recovered except my memories it was the scariest time of my life
