Chapter 1
The setting of the story is in really bad conditions all throughout the story. Especially camp green lake which sounds like an awesome camp that is in the middle of a forest, not the middle of nowhere. Plus it doesn't even have a lake.
Chapter 2
I kind of agree because doing something that you hate as a punishment for something bad that you have done usually you will not do anything bad again because you don't want to go back there. But for some people it might not work, plus if you are lucky like stanley you can just chose to go to jail if you get the choice. So that is why I am not sure if going to camp green lake would make bad kids good. I have only heard of one other unpleasant thing, it is sometimes in prisons they make you mine through big rocks all day. But I don't think that is nearly as bad as being out in the boiling hot sun nearly all day digging a massive 5 foot deep and wide hole.
Chapter 3
I think the quote, I learn from failure means that if you fail/fall don't just give up, keep trying until you have what you want, Otherwise you will never succeed. I learn from failure all the time because i do motocross. Most of the time i'm just trying new things, so I usually fall off a lot.
Chapter 4
Mr. Sir has a tattoo of a rattlesnake on his arm. Stanley said that when he moves his are the mouth opens and closes. I think that Mr Sir is quite a mean person, especially to the kids at camp green lake. Probably because he might feel more powerful than them.
Chapter 5
I think the boys call mr pendanski mom because when stanly first came to camp green lake mr pendanski told him that he could call him mum if it made him feel a little bit better about being so far away from his home.
Chapter 6
The boys don't believe stanly when he tells them that he stole the sneakers because they were clyde livingston's, and they are worth a lot of money.
Chapter 7
I think after stanly digs his first hole he realizes that it is a lot harder than he thought. And I think he feels proud because He dug a massive 5 by 5 foot hole and he never even gave up or passed out. Plus he has always wanted to dig a massive hole.
Chapter 8
No, I do not believe in curses because witches, wizards and all of that sort of magical stuff isn't real so how can a curse be real. Plus its not that his family is cursed, his family has just always had really really bad luck with nearly anything that come there way.
Chapter 9
Stanley's nickname I think Suits him because he is the biggest kid in his house. Plus He has crazy hair like a caveman would. So I think his nickname caveman suits him a lot.
Chapter 10
I think the boys always line up in the same order because x ray is the boss and I think he picks the order of his favorite people, so that is why zero is last maybe.
Chapter 11
X ray askes stanly if whatever stanley finds if he can give it to x ray because his eyesight isn't the best so he never finds anything. Plus he has been there for nearly a year and he hasn't had a break so it must be hard for him. I think I would have agreed to giving him what I found because he is the leader of the group so I would want to stay in his good side.
Chapter 12
Yes I agree with what mr pendanski said because if you mess up your life it's your choice to fix it. No one else chooses for you. And no one is going to fix it for you, you have to fix it yourself.
Chapter 13
Stanley gains x rays trust. He does lose a bit, but I would have done the same thing because I would want to be part of there group s that they could protect me.
Chapter 14
No I wasn't surprised that the warden is a women. She seems really mean and sort of a bit desperate for something.
Chapter 15
I think they are right that the warden might be watching them. She is probably watching them because it is like a prison so she might think that some of the boy might try and get into the shovel shed and use them as a weapon.
Chapter 16
I think that zero is not familiar with anything because either he was sent to camp green lake a long time, or because he was one of the people in the homeless shelter that those shoes were stolen from.
Chapter 17
Stanley found out that zigzag isn't actually as tough as everyone thinks he is.
Chapter 18
I think that stanley keeps lying to his mum & dad in the letters because he might not want them to be worried at all. Plus if he did tell them they probably don't be able to do anything about it because they are poor and won’t be able to afford a lawyer.
Chapter 19
Stanley tell mr sir that he stole the sunflower seeds because he doesn't want to be a snitch on the other boys because they are his friends.
Chapter 20
I think every thinks she is so menacing because she can basically do whatever she wants and no one can stop her.
Chapter 21
I think zero finishes stanley's hole for him because stanley is teaching zero to read everyday after they finish digging their holes.
Chapter 22
I think stanley is a good teacher because he is patient and doesn't mind waiting for zero to finish anything.
Chapter 23
There is only one thing that I can find that seems to good to be true, and that is that the whole school house was basically rebuilt and all the guy that rebuilt it was given was jars of spiced peaches. No money.
Chapter 24
I think mr sir is getting back at stanley by not filling his canteen up everytime stanley goes to the truck. No, I don't think it is stanley's fault that mr sir got hit by the warden because mr sir was the one that took stanley to the warden's office.
Chapter 25
I think sam is sort of a respected member of the green lake community because he sells everyone onions that make them healthier. But then no one actually knows if the onions actually help because people that are sick always get treatment from the doctor and onions from sam.
Chapter 26
I think obviously god punishes stanley and his whole family because nothing ever EVER goes his or his family's way.
Chapter 27
I think that stanley and zeros arrangement is sort of fair because stanley does need extra energy to be a good teacher for zero. But I don't think it is that fair on the other boys because while zero is finishing off stanley's hole al stanley does is sit around and do nothing. So the other boys probably get really jealous of stanley.
Chapter 28
I think the warden has turquoise studded boots like kate barlow.
Chapter 29
I think that stanley is so interested in the giant thumb because he has heard stories about it and had been told that his great great grandfather had survived on for 2 weeks.
Chapter 30
I think stanley doesn't fight back when zigzag taunts him because he might still want to be friends with them in case anything happens then they can defend him or at least help him with his problem. If I was in that position I think I would do the same as stanley.
Chapter 31
Stanley doesn't go after zero because he keeps thinking what if he is already dead then I go out and try find him. What will happen. That's what he keeps thinking. Plus he is just really scared about the whole thought of leaving
Chapter 32
The fear of it wasn't to late means that stanley was thinking what if I don't go out there and zero is actually alive.
Chapter 33
I think that stanley did not approach his predicament very well because if he had been smarter and been a bit more careful when he was driving then he could have survived away from the camp for weeks.
Chapter 34
I think that the big thumb has some sort of curse on him because that is where his great great grandfather survived a long time ago so somehow the big thumb keeps calling to him or something like that.
Chapter 35
I think that zero and stanley's relationship is a very very trusting relationship because stanley basically saved zero life.
Plus they are very nice to each other.
Chapter 36
I think stanley has learned that he is very strong and can persevere until the end. I think he learned that zero is also very strong because something was really wrong with zero but he kept saying that he was fine.
Chapter 37
I think that stanley called zero hector because stanley was getting really excited because they were nearly at the top of the mountain.
Chapter 38
When I was really young I tried climbing up a massive tree, I got about halfway up then realized I couldn't get down. After that I learned that I should be more careful when it comes to climbing trees because I do need to get back down.
Chapter 39
I think that zero confesses about the shoes at that time because the guilt has just been building up inside him and he just couldn’t take it anymore. Plus now him and stanley were good friends so maybe he thought that he knew stanley wouldn't try hurt him if he told Stanley.
Chapter 40
Stanley is surprised to find the sack of jars so far down the hill because he didn’t think that he had dropped the bag that far down the hill.
Chapter 41
No I don’t agree with zero because if he had kept the sneakers he probably still would have been taken to camp green lake but stanley wouldn’t have.
