Trip To The Cook Islands
Still on the plane, but I had already imagined it in my head… beautiful beaches, luxurious hotel, touring Rarotonga, and TV. This was the life. We had just landed at the Rarotongan airport, and already I knew what the weather would be like here, hot and humid. So maybe this vacation wasn’t going to feel all that marvellous after all. Still, I was excited to be heading for our hotel.
Our hotel was a very nice hotel, it had its own beach, a spa, a pool, a TV, and… rooms! Wow! Rooms! We actually had a place to stay in, and they had air conditioners, probably because they knew that tourists weren’t going to be used to the humidity there. After the first night, we decided that we would use this vacation in Rarotonga to its full potential. We headed straight for the beach, which was crowded, and rented some snorkelling gear. “Mom, are you coming? “ We asked, The water was amazing! It was so warm, and so clear. “No Tony, I’m going to be here watching you.” We found ourselves watching little fish swim, and trying to catch them, which as you may have guessed, was very, very hard.
Another fun time we had swimming was when we went on a boat cruise around Rarotonga’s coolest lakes and minor islands. Sadly, I get seasick pretty easily, and couldn’t enjoy myself too much, but I did go down swimming, and managed to cut myself on the edge of the boat, because of how strong the waves were. I was bleeding rather badly, and couldn’t keep swimming, I wanted to go back, but we weren’t the only ones on the boat. We went over to a smaller island, and got a delicious seafood lunch. I even found a spider wandering on my leg! I wish I had just laughed at it and made a funny joke about it, but I didn’t, instead, I took one look at the spider, and went into a full blown panic!I swatted it off my leg, and took a few steps away…
Overall, the boat cruise was definitely my favourite part, even though I was seasick, scraped my leg against the boat, and encountered a spider crawling across my leg. There was even a dog that came with us on the cruise! It was obviously a brave one, because when it was time to leave, It didn’t get on the boat, instead, it swam the entire way, following behind the boat! I really everything that happened during my holiday in the Cook Islands, but all that swimming was definitely the best part.
I will definitely be back to the Cook Islands!
