Chapter 1
I would imagine that Camp Green Lake would have lushes green grass, beautiful trees and a nice lake, but in reality it has no grass or trees just DIRT and holes everywhere, and there were so many insects, everywhere you looked there was rattle snakes, lizards and scorpions.
Chapter 2
I think that digging holes can turn a bad person into a good person because they will not want to go back to digging holes and being in that heat for 18 months straight , and they will probably learn from their mistakes. Going to jail will help build character because you will get stronger mentally and physically.
Chapter 3
I think when stanley's father (an inventor) says “I learn from failure’’ I think he says that because an inventor has a lot of trial and error in their life. I have had failure in my opinion because in a recent maths test I didn't do so good so that was a bit of failure to me.
Chapter 4
Mr Sir has a rattle snake tattoo, this tells me that he likes rattlesnakes because why would he have a tattoo of one if he didnt like it, it also tells me that he is strong and tough.
Chapter 5
I think that it's good that the boys call Mr Pendanski “mum” because the boys won't be able to see their mum for 18 months and Mr Pendanski is looking after them like what their mum would have done when they were back at home.
Chapter 6
I think that the boys don’t believe Stanley when he says that he “stole”snenkers because they would have done way bigger crimes than that to come to Camp Green Lake but they probably don't realise that the shoes belonged to Clyde Livingston a famous baseball player.
Chapter 7
Stanley learns when he digs his first hole that it is tougher than he he thought it was going to be, especially when the sun will get more dangerous throughout the day, so he thought the faster he works the better. I think Stanley feels proud because the hole was very hard to dig and very changeling with a little amount of water.
Chapter 8
I don't believe in curses because how can someone curse you at anytime without you knowing, and they don't have superpowers to control you of doing something bad its your own actions not a curse.
Chapter 9
I don't really like the name that X- Ray gave to Stanley “caveman” because caveman isn't the nicest word it means like grotty and gross, but on the other hand the other boys don't have nice nicknames like X-Ray, Zero, Barf Bag and Armpit and stuff like that. I have a nickname and I got if from my name Madeline into Maddie.
Chapter 10
I think that the boys line up in the same order for water because the people at the front of the line are the leaders of the pack.
Chapter 11
X Ray takes Stanley to give him anything that he finds. He says he deserves to get it because he can't see well, and he has been there longer then Stanley has. Stanley agrees because he wants Stanley to like him. I wouldn't do the same thing because I want to tell the truth.
Chapter 12
When Mr. Pendanski tells Stanley “You messed up your life, and it’s up to you to fix it.” I don't really agree with him saying that because it was the no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather cursed him, he wouldn't be here if the sneakers didn't fall from the sky.
Chapter 13
I think that Stanley gained more trust and respect from X-Ray, but then he loses the tube that could've given him a posible day off, but on the other hand he doesn't want to be on X-Rays bad side and be disrespect by him.
Chapter 14
I was surprised when they said that warden was a woman because a “warden” seems like it would be more like a male job because you will have to be very tough for the job. I think that the warden is kind enough to know there nicknames and to be interested in the boys.
Chapter 15
No. I think the campers are paranoid. She probably has her eyes on each of the boys, and talks to Mr.Sir and Mr. Pendanski to find out what is going on.
Chapter 16
I think that Zero might of been homeless, and maybe couldn't afford a tv, that's why he didn't know any nursery rhymes and popular tv shows when he was a kid.
Chapter 17
Stanley finds out that Zigzag is a jerk, and does not feel bad when someone is hurt, and he does not take responsibility for his actions, and Stanley finds it rude that zigzag dropped dirt in his hole.
Chapter 18
I think that Stanley is lying to his mom and dad in the letters because he doesn't want his parents to be worried about him and stress out because they will think that he is in a bad place.
Chapter 19
He took the blame so the boys would like him. I would have told on zigzag because I don't want to lie.
Chapter 20
Chapter 21
Zero dug Stanley's hole because Stanley didn't steal the seeds and he didn't steal the shoes that put him at camp green lake. He knew this because he stole the seeds. Also, this makes Stanley rethink his decision to teach zero to read.
Chapter 22
I think that stanley would be a good teacher because it helps that Zero is helping Stanley learn his basic literacy. I have never tourted someone before, but when im older I maybe could.
Chapter 23
I think that how they described it would've been realistic because back then they would've kept it maintained but now 110 years later it might of got out of hand and the lake is dried up and the grass isn't there and there is no peach trees anymore.
Chapter 24
Mr Sir got Stanley back because didn't pour any water in Stanley's canteen. Yes, he lied about the seeds.
Chapter 25
I think that Sam was respected in the community because people believed that his onions cured illnesses and baldness.
Chapter 26
“Whom did God punish?”= God punished the whole town by not raining for a hundred years.
Chapter 27
I think that the boys are jealous because Stanley is getting help from zero, and not having to work as hard. They compare it to slavery. Also, Stanley and Zero have separated from the group by building a relationship that separated from the group.
Chapter 28
The Warden had turquoise-studded boots like Kate Barlow’s.
Chapter 29
The lightning makes the mountain look like a giant thumb. It reminds Stanley of his grandfathers story. He is beginning to wonder if this is the place that his grandfather's fortune was stolen from Kate Barlow.
Chapter 30
Stanley hit Zigzag because Mr.Pendanski told him to. If I was in Stanley's position I would not listen to Mr.Pendanski because it is the wrong thing to do.
Chapter 31
Stanley goes after Zero because he likes Zero and does not want him to be alone.
Chapter 32
I think when Stanley says its not too late to get Zero because he might of just left and he could probably catch up to him and safe him and make him feel better.
Chapter 33
Chapter 34
I think that Stanley keep walking to the “Big Thumb” because he may be thought that Zero would of been there or Zero was somewhere on the way to the big thumb and he wants to know why it was shaped as the big thumb.
Chapter 35
I would describe Stanley and Zeros relationship at this point very good because they seem like they are having heaps of fun and Zero seems very appreciative of Stanley for going out and finding him.
Chapter 36
Stanley learns about himself that he is more stronger than a few months ago. Stanley learns about Zero that he is very tough and can push through pain a lot.
Chapter 37
I think that Stanley suddenly calls Zero Hector because that it is Zero's real name and wants to pay respect to him.
Chapter 38
I have attempted something that seem impossible, it was walking up Diamond Head in Hawaii because it seemed so high up and so steep but I still did it, it took us about 45 minutes. I learn that you have to just push through things and it actually was fun.
Chapter 39
I think Zero chooses this moment to confess about the stolen shoes because Zero thinks that they might not make it so it would be better to tell him incase if they don't make it.
