Hole Chapter 1 Writing
Today is the day I am going to Camp Green Lake. I can’t wait. Its sounds so relaxing and beautiful those words Camp Green Lake. I can just imagine it having bright green oak trees and the most beautiful glistening crystal clear lake. Relaxing on the side of the lake relaxing in the sun with my feet in the water. Making new friends and making a campfire. I can't wait to get to camp. But when I reached everything was not what I had imagined. They camp was dusty and dirty and they were heaps of people wearing orange jumpsuits. They didn’t have lodges they had old dusty tents. There was hardly any trees and the lake wasn’t as beautiful as I thought. Well as the look of it i was in a a lot of trouble.
Holes Chapter 2 Writing.
I think that digging holes will turn a bad person into a good person because when you have to go to Camp Green Lake and have to dig holes in the burning hot sun, you might think I won’t do anything bad again because I don’t want to dig holes in the sun and get sunburned and have my body sore everyday. But I also think it might not turn them into a good person because when they go to Camp Green Lake and dig holes everyday, they might get angry because they have to dig holes and when they get out of Camp Green Lake they might do something bad again and get sent back there. Some unpleasant things I have heard is that they have to finish digging there holes otherwise they are going to stay outside in the burning sun until they finish. I have also heard they they do not get water all the time and get very dehydrated.
Holes Chapter 3 Writing
I think that that sentence means that when you fail you learn that you didn’t do it right and learn what you did wrong and you try to make it right. I think it also means that when you fail you don’t give up and try again. I have learned from failure that not everybody is perfect and you fail but you shouldn't give up.
Holes Chapter 4 Writing
Mr Sir had a rattle snake tattoo. I think this tattoo means that he likes snakes and he might be a little cruel. I think it means that he is is a little bit sneaky and can be mean. I also think he has that tattoo because he probably had an good or bad experience about snakes and that's why he has that tattoo.
Holes Chapter 5 Writing
It think the boys call Mr Pendanski “Mom”, because he acts like a mum to them and cares for them. U also think they call him “Mom”, because he likes being called Mom and he is like a mum. I think this nickname doesn’t suit him because it is about weird to be calling a man “Mom.” I think it might also not suit him because he is not a woman.
Holes Chapter 6 Writing
The boys don’t believe Stanley stole the sneakers because Clyde Sweet Feet Livingston wasn’t actually a famous basketball player. Also It was donated to an orphanage and it costs thousands of dollars and that means it is probably guarded or something. I also believe that they won't believe him because they fell from sky and tings dont just fall from the sky.
Holes Chapter 7 Writing
He learns that it is very tiring and hard work. He also learns that the first hole was harder than he thought. Stanley feels proud when he finishes his first hole because he is
finally finished and gets the rest of the day to rest. He must also be proud of his hole because he has to do way more.
Holes Chapter 8 Writing
I do believe in curses. I believe in curses because you can actually get bad luck. I also believe in curses because i think people can actually curse you. I also believe in curses because if you can do magic you can possibly curse someone.
Holes Chapter 9 Writing
I think that the nickname is a bit weird because i dont get how they got that nickname for him. I do have a nickname, My first nickname my friends gave me was seajal because my name sounds like seagull. My next nickname my friends gave me was Bush because my hair looks like a bush and is really frizzy and bushy. MY most recent nickname my friends call me is Stingy Brat. I don't know why they give me that nickname but they just did.
Holes Chapter 10 Writing
The boys line up in order because of they how popular they are and how long they been at Camp Green Lake. X-ray is the boss and is popular while Zero and Stanley are the least popular and at the back.
Holes Chapter 11 Writing
X-ray asked Stanley if he had found something Stanley should give it to him because he had not had a break for a year. Stanley agrees to this because he doesn’t want to make enemies with the campers because he is scared that they will do something bad to him. I wouldn’t give X-ray anything because i would want a day off too.
Holes Chapter 12 Writing
I do agree that if Stanley's does something wrong or anyone else they should fix their problems themself not let other people do it for them because the person the stuck up for the other person will get in trouble for something they didn’t do. But sometimes you get in trouble for something you didn’t do and you still get a consequence.
Holes Chapter !3 Writing
Stanley gains from giving X-ray the tube a one space up in the line. Stanley loses a day off from digging in the sun and he also loses the tube.
Holes Chapter 14 Writing
I wasn’t really surprised that the warden was a woman because I had already knew that warden’s are woman. The word “warden,” also sounds like a job that a woman would do. The warden has red hair and freckles all over her face. She wear a cowboy hat, black cowboy boots with studded turquoise stones and a jacket.
Holes Chapter 15 Writing
I think that Zigzag thinks that there are cameras watching over them all the time and microphones placed all over the camp. I think the warden might have cameras and microphones all over the camp because I think she likes to know what happens when the campers take a rest and come back to the camp. Also that I think that Stanley and X-ray don’t talk about why Stanley gave the tube to X-ray because the warden might be listening if they do talk about it and X-ray will get in trouble.
Holes Chapter 16 Writing
He might not be familiar with any nursery rhymes or sesame street because maybe he came to camp when really young and probably didn’t go to school and know what sesame street and nursery rhymes are because he probably didn’t watch tv when he was really young. He might also not know what sesame street is because maybe he doesn’t have a tv or maybe he comes from a place that doesn't have a tv.
Holes Chapter 17 Writing
Stanley learns that his dirt pile was on top of Zigzag’s dirt pile as well. He also learns that when he gets hurt Zigzag doesn’t care as long as he doesn’t have to do more digging.
Holes Chapter 18 Writing
I think he lies to his parents because he doesn’t want them to worry about him and think that he is get treated badly at the camp. I also think that he tells them good things because if he tells them that he is doing digging and getting sunburnt and really tired that this might complain and maybe a big fight might start.
Holes Chapter 19 Writing
Stanley takes the blame because he doesn’t want his friends to get in trouble. Stanley also takes the blame because he doesn't want his friends to become his enemies because they might do something bad to him. I would have said to Mr. sir that it was me but later on told him that it wasn’t so that i wouldn’t get blamed for something I didn’t do.
Holes Chapter 20 Writing
The warden doesn’t raise her voice because when she is mad she doesn’t want them to be scared because they might run away. There digging the holes because she is looking for something and if they all run away then how is she going to find what she is looking for if nobody is going to dig holes. She also might not raise her voice because she doesn't want the boys to be scared of her and stressed in case they get in trouble with her.
Holes Chapter 21 Writing
I think that Zero finishes Stanley’s hole for him because he is a nice person. I also think that he dig his hole for him because he took the blame for the sunflower seeds. I also think that Zero dug his hole so in return Stanley might teach him how to read and write.
Holes Chapter 22 Writing
I think that Stanley is a good teacher because he knows how to teach Zero how to read and write. I also think he is a good teacher because he made Zero smile a really big smile and Zero was very happy. I haven’t tutored anyone because people normally will tutor me.
Holes Chapter 23 Writing
The picture that the author paints does seem realistic but only realistic 110 years ago because the author describes Camp Green Lake now as a dry wasteland and the lake dried out. But there is two green trees near the warden's cabin.
Holes Chapter 24 Writing
Mr. Sir gets back at Stanley by not filling up his canteen and putting it onto the floor. Stanley has to wait for someone else to come with the water truck to fill up his canteen so that he is not thirsty.I don’t think it is Stanley's fault that Mr. sir got scratched because who cares if your sunflower seeds gets stolen and falls on the floor you can just get some more. I also think that it is not Stanley’s fault because Mr. sir makes a big deal out of everything.
Holes Chapter 25 Writing
He does seem like a respected member because he can help all kinds of people and cure them fast. For example he can cure cuts and sore and he can make remedies and medicines to help people. Also because his donkey ate onions she lived longer.
Holes Chapter 26 Writing
God punished Kate barlow because she kissed a man that was not the same colour as her and got punished because you are not allowed to kiss anyone that is a different colour than you. She got bitten by a yellow spotted lizard and was threatened by Trout Walker and her former student Linda Miller. God also punished Sam because he and his donkey was killed by Trout Walker.
Holes Chapter 27 Writing
The don’t agree to Stanley and Zero’s arrangement because they think that it is unfair. X-ray says that “Same old story…the while boy sits while the black boy does all the work,” because Stanley gets to relax while Zero’s has to do work for an hour. They also think it is unfair because Stanley gets an hour of work off.
Holes Chapter 28 Writing
The warden has the same black turquoise studded boot as Kissin Kate Barlow.
Holes Chapter 29 Writing
The significance of Stanley’s sighting of God’s thumb makes him think of his great great grandfather that stole the pig and was robbed by Kissin Kate Barlow. He told everyone that his grandfather had found refuge in god’s thumb.
Holes Chapter 30 Writing
Stanley doesn’t fight back because he doesn’t want to cause a fight. He doesn’t want fight back because he doesn’t want Zigzag to taunt him more. I would probably just run away or tell him to stop it. I will probably also tell him to stop it otherwise I will report him.
Holes Chapter 31 Writing
Stanley didn’t go after because he didn’t know where and how far Zero went. He also wouldn't have known if Zero died or Zero had already got caught. He also didn’t know if he went for Zero he might get into trouble for also running away.
Holes Chapter 32 Writing
Stanley was worried the most about Zero because he was his friend. He was also worried that Zero died or is still alive but suffering. I think this means that Stanley is scared and worried about Zero.
Holes Chapter 33 Writing
Stanley stole the water truck because he was he was hopeful to find Zero and if he did find Zero he would probably give him some water. But in the book Stanley didn't get a chance to use the truck so he ran away to find Zero. If I was in the same situation I would have maybe got a bag or something and put some supplies in like a first aid kit, water and food.
Holes Chapter 34 Writing
I think that Stanley keep walking towards the big thumb at the top of the mountain because he might have been curious to see what it was and wanted to find out. I also think maybe he felt that it would help him in some way.
Holes Chapter 35 Writing
I think that Stanley and Zero’s relationship at this point of the story is strong because it seems like they trust each other and care for each other like Stanley cared enough to go looking for Zero when he ran away. I also think they are more like brothers than friends because Stanley looks out for Zero and cares about him and Zero doesn't mind doing things for Stanley.
Holes Chapter 36 Writing
Stanley learned about himself that he actually likes to teach Zero and Zero likes Stanley teaching him. Stanley also learns that Zero is strong and is a fast learner. Stanley also learns that he and Zero never gave up and is still going to find out what the big thumb is. He learns that he is persevering to keep on going as long as Zero is fine and is still moving.
Holes Chapter 37 Writing
I think that Stanley calls Zero “Hector” because that is Zero’s real name. I also think that Stanley calls him Hector because maybe he thinks that Zero would respond to that name. I also think that he calls him Hector because Stanley maybe Stanley thinks that Zero would like to be called Hector and not Zero anymore because Stanley is his friend.
Holes Chapter 38 Writing
I have attempted something that had seemed impossible before. In 2015 my school had took the year 5’s to Sonshine Ranch. The first thing i was going to do at Sonshine Ranch was horse riding. I was really scared because i was worried if i would fall off or the horse would just start running and i would break a bone or something. But when I had got on the horse it wasn't as bad because the horse knew where it was going and what it was doing. From this experience I learned not to be afraid of all the bad things that can happen but see what happens and it might turn out to be something that I enjoy.
Holes Chapter 39 Writing
Zero chooses to confess about the shoes because maybe if Zero dies then at least Zero won't feel guilty that he was the one that got Stanley into Camp Green Lake in the first place. Maybe Zero was feeling bad so he told Stanley because Stanley had done so much for him so he was telling Stanley that he stole the shoes is payback for helping him.
Holes Chapter 40 Writing
Stanley was surprised to see the sack of jars and shovel so far down because he I think he thought that had the jars more higher up like when they nearly reached the mountain but he had to help Zero so he did have to leave then behind. I think he must have thought that they rolled down the mountain but they didn’t because the jars in the sack would have been broken and the shovel would have been in a different place than the sack.
Holes Chapter 41 Writing
I think that that Zero and Stanley’s situation are both negative and positive. The positive side is that the onions and water that Stanley and Zero are eating and drinking are helping them grow stronger and helping Zero being less sick. The other positive side is that they are getting tougher. The last positive side is there pain is going away slowly and if there is pain they don’t mind it at all..
Holes Chapter 42 Writing
The difference between coincidence and destiny is that destiny is something that is supposed to happen whereas coincidence is two things that are connected or related to each other which happen near the same time or at the same time. I believe in destiny because if something happens it must always happen for a reason even though you may not know that reason. I also believe in destiny because if something is meant to happen it might just happen and sometimes it might not.
Holes Chapter 43 Writing
When Stanley hears Zero’s story Stanley wonders what pain or misery his parents will go through if the Warden tells Stanley’s parents that he is dead. He also kept on imagining how his parents would look like when they found out that he was dead. Zero stories make me feel sad for him because i think he lost his mother at a very young age and when he comes out of Camp Green Lake he won’t have a mother to take care of him and love him.
Holes Chapter 44 Writing
I think that Stanley and Zero will feel scared, shocked and surprised. I think they will feel surprised and shocked because they probably can't believe that the Warden found them and how she knew they were there. I think they will feel scared because they might think that will Warden will punish them or kill them for running away and also for finding the suitcase because then she can say that she found it.
Holes Chapter 45 Writing
I learned in this chapter that the Warden doesn’t care about anyone she only cares about the suitcase and her own safety. I also think that she is cruel and deceiving. I feel like that no one would ever trust her and maybe at the end she will get arrested for something bad or will get punished.
Holes Chapter 46 Writing
I think Zero gave Stanley the thumbs up sign because in the story Mr. Sir said that Stanley was innocent of stealing the shoes. I think that Zero was happy for Stanley because that means that Stanley could finally go home. I also think that he gave Stankey the thumbs up sign because the warden was proven wrong.
Holes Chapter 47 Writing
The Warden had the same last name as Trout WALKER. This might be important because maybe the warden is Trout Walker but in a different disguise. Trout Walker was also the person who killed Mary Lou and Sam. He was around when the lake was not dried up.
Holes Chapter 48 Writing
Stanley wont leave without Hector Zeroni which is Zero because Zero is like his brother to him and best friend and Zero has done so much for Stanley. I think if he left Zero at the camp the warden and her other occupants will kill or punish or torture Zero because he ran away.
Holes Chapter 49 Writing
“... and for the first time in over a hundred years, a drop
of rain fell into the empty lake.”
I think that this is important because it hasn’t rained for at least 110 years and at least the lake the desert would be a little bit moist. I think the author chose to end part !! because it is a good way to end the part because it was a happy time because Stanley and Zero (Hector) got released and gets to go home. I also think it's good because maybe since it rained once it might rain again and maybe eventually they will be a lake so at least Camp Green Lake makes sense.
Holes Chapter 50 Writing
Stanley has changed from a weak and not strong boy to a confident, strong and brave person. Also Stanley was a fat boy and now he is very skinny. His personality has also changed throughout the story. Before he was scared and miserable but now he is brave and happy. I think Stanley did have a hole in his life before Camp Green Lake because he was getting bullied and didn’t have many friends but now i think now he doesn't because he has his best friend Hector Zeroni and he is back home with his family and friends.
